This is my love song

Annoying NYC trend: people who think they're cool wearing vintage hair metal shirts. Yesterday I saw an anemic big-sunglasses-wearing Jack-White-wannabe with a Whitesnake t-shirt on. Today I spotted a thin blonde pony-tailed hipsterette in a recently-tailored-to-show-off-her-ribcage Guns N’ Roses shirt.

No word on whether it’s currently supposed to be cool to listen to the music,. But it’s impossible that the joyless folk wearing these shirts are being ironic. NYC hipsterdom in its purest Lower East Side strain is as dead to humor as Jonathan Edwards, for similarly puritannical reasons.

The only thing we can say with certainty is that I've scooped Gawker on spotting this.

Not a new NYC trend: crazies on the subway. Monday's crazy was the spooky old lady. She looked innocent getting on: just an old bag o' bones looking for a seat. But then she got to gibbering. She seemed to talk herself through some bit of insanity, worry it to peices, then to put it to rest. She would relax and look friendly for ten seconds. Then she's stand up and wig out.

Yelling: "People dont do that on the train!" She trailed off into mumbling, then pointed toward the next car: "Why would you do that, WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?"

It's good to be back.
