Welcome back to bloggytown. I’m moderately set up in Nairobi now: working cell phone, temporary residence. Is it wonderful? Yes, but. The weather is always perfect here. But big rain knocked out a Nairobi dam, stopping the flow of city water, and killing our electricity at the house for two days. So I wrote and read by candlelight Monday and Tuesday night, bathing with buckets of rainwater every morning. My backyard is a zoo of banana trees, monkeys, long billed birds. But we need a gate on the driveway, a fence on the community, bars on the window, an alarm on the bars, and a panic button on my bedroom wall. My roommate just bought a new bed for the guest room, where I sleep, but my sheets and pillows are always damp.
Per the future of this page: I want to spruce it up with pictures, résumé, and clips. But this will primarily be a diary of the interesting aspects of my life in Africa. So stop by for updates, which I’m hoping will come daily.
