Shortly after Duke got various body parts handed to them by VCU, my brother and I were talking about whether Coach K has just stopped trying to learn. He seems more and more like Bob Knight: he'd rather lose his way than win someone else's way.
So the fact that Coach K is still an obsessive '24' fan -- after the show has gone beyond dumb, beyond predictable, into that netherworld of American viewership that fuels the CBS network-- just seems fitting.
Repetitive, self-righteous martyrdom? Check. The conceit that stoicism can overcome long odds? Check. Humorlessness? Check.
